Geomagnetic Pulsations

Solar activity is carried out into the solar system by the solar wind. The solar wind interacts with the Earth's magnetic field and generates measurable ground level and atmospheric effects. For example, from the Earth's surface, using the array of BGS observatories, we observe in near to real time the ultra-low frequency (ULF) geomagnetic field line resonances known as 'pulsations'. Observations of pulsations help remotely diagnose activity occurring in the plasmasphere, for example, the density variations in the plasma that can disrupt satellite communications.
